Position Description:

Antilles School is seeking a dynamic and talented Spanish Teacher to join a committed team of educators in a collaborative environment that values flexible thinking and problem-solving. The ideal candidate is a passionate and self-motivated professional, prepared to teach a range of college preparatory courses that support diverse learning styles and abilities. A demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, working within a culturally and ethnically diverse community is essential. Teachers are expected to apply best practices and integrate technology in meaningful and educationally sound ways.

The current position includes teaching Spanish Language and Culture to Middle School students (Levels 1–5), with potential opportunities to teach additional courses in the future. The Middle and Upper School Spanish Department seeks a teacher committed to the creative delivery of content, hands-on and engaging student experiences, and active collaboration with colleagues.


Core responsibilities:

Instructional Excellence

  • Design and implement developmentally appropriate, student-centered lessons that support differentiated learning

  • Provide timely and meaningful feedback on student learning and progress

  • Maintain gradebooks and design assessments aligned with curricular goals

  • Integrate relevant technology and interdisciplinary connections into instruction

  • Provide academic support to students before and after school, as needed

Commitment to Whole-Child Development

  • Support students’ social and emotional development

  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel safe, valued, and respected

  • Serve as an advisor within the school’s advisory program, building relationships and supporting student growth

Collaboration and Collegiality

  • Communicate regularly and proactively with parents/guardians regarding student progress

  • Maintain open and professional communication with colleagues and school community members

  • Attend and engage meaningfully in faculty meetings, division meetings, and professional development opportunities

  • Actively participate in the life of the school beyond the classroom

 

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred

  • Fluency in Spanish required; native or near-native proficiency preferred 

  • Strong understanding of language acquisition pedagogy and proficiency-based instruction

  • Ability to incorporate cultural competency and global perspectives into the curriculum

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships with students, colleagues, and families

  • Collaborative, organized, and self-directed professional

  • Proficiency with educational technology platforms (e.g., Google Workspace, learning management systems, and digital gradebooks)
