Position Summary:

Antilles School seeks an experienced and enthusiastic Middle School Language Arts Teacher who is passionate about student-centered learning and fostering a love of literature, writing, and critical thinking. The ideal candidate will bring a deep knowledge of language arts instruction and a commitment to engaging a diverse community of learners through innovative, hands-on, and culturally responsive practices.

This teacher will join a collaborative department dedicated to curriculum innovation and interdisciplinary connections. The Language Arts program emphasizes critical reading, analytical and creative writing, grammar, vocabulary, and public speaking.

Core Responsibilities:

Instructional Excellence

  • Design and implement developmentally appropriate, engaging lessons that support differentiated learning needs

  • Provide timely and meaningful feedback on student work and academic progress

  • Maintain gradebooks and design assessments aligned with departmental learning goals

  • Integrate relevant technology, media, and interdisciplinary learning into instruction

  • Provide academic support to students before and after school, as needed

Commitment to Whole-Child Development

  • Support students’ social and emotional growth through advisory and relationship-building

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and affirming classroom environment

  • Serve as an advisor within the school’s advisory program, cultivating meaningful connections and mentoring student development

Collaboration and Collegiality

  • Communicate proactively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom happenings

  • Maintain open and collegial communication with colleagues and members of the broader school community

  • Actively engage in faculty meetings, division meetings, and ongoing professional development

  • Participate in the life of the school beyond the classroom, contributing to its vibrant community
