Position Summary:

Antilles School seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated Kindergarten Teacher who is passionate about early childhood education and fostering a dynamic, engaging classroom environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of child development and experience implementing play-based and inquiry-driven instruction to support the growth of the whole child. A commitment to collaboration, differentiated instruction, and culturally responsive teaching practices is essential.

Core Responsibilities:

Instructional Excellence

  • Plan, deliver, and assess developmentally appropriate, student-centered lessons that nurture academic, social, and emotional development.

  • Design learning experiences that integrate literacy, numeracy, science exploration, and social studies through hands-on, project-based approaches.

  • Implement differentiated instruction to support a wide range of learners, including students with varying backgrounds and abilities.

  • Create a warm, inclusive, and structured classroom environment that promotes student autonomy, collaboration, and risk-taking.

  • Utilize ongoing formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and communicate student progress.

  • Integrate technology meaningfully into instruction to enhance learning experiences.

Commitment to Whole- Child Development

  • Foster positive relationships with students that reflect empathy, respect, and understanding.

  • Support students' social-emotional learning, executive functioning skills, and character development.

  • Partner with families to support student growth, maintaining regular communication regarding curriculum, classroom activities, and individual student progress.

  • Participate actively in divisional initiatives, including character education, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging programming.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Engage meaningfully in grade-level and divisional team meetings, curriculum development initiatives, and professional learning opportunities.

  • Collaborate with specialists (e.g., art, music, PE, student support services) to design interdisciplinary learning experiences.

  • Attend and participate in school-wide events, performances, and parent conferences.

  • Serve as a committed member of the Lower School community, contributing positively to school culture and community life.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of ELC and Lower School or Head of School.


Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education required; Master's degree preferred.

  • At least three years of lead teaching experience in early childhood or lower elementary settings.

  • Strong understanding of early childhood development, foundational literacy and numeracy, and best practices in early childhood pedagogy.

  • Experience designing and implementing inquiry-based and project-based learning.

  • Commitment to inclusive classroom practices and cultural competence.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency with educational technology and digital tools to support instruction.

  • Warm, child-centered approach with strong interpersonal skills and a growth mindset.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a dynamic, diverse school environment.
