Position Summary:

Antilles School seeks an experienced and dynamic Upper School Science Teacher who is passionate about teaching and learning in a collaborative, student-centered environment. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic educator with a strong background in science education and a commitment to engaging a diverse community of learners through inquiry-based instruction and hands-on exploration.

This teacher will join a department dedicated to curricular innovation and interdisciplinary thinking. Science courses include Biology, Chemistry and Honors level Chemistry, Marine Biology, and may include opportunities to teach science at the Advanced Placement level. 

Core Responsibilities:

Instructional Excellence

  • Design and implement developmentally appropriate, student-centered lessons that support differentiated learning

  • Provide timely and meaningful feedback on student learning and progress

  • Maintain gradebooks and design assessments aligned with curricular goals

  • Integrate relevant technology and interdisciplinary connections into instruction

  • Provide academic support to students before and after school, as needed

Commitment to Whole-Child Development

  • Support students’ social and emotional development

  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel safe, valued, and respected

  • Serve as an advisor within the school’s advisory program, building relationships and supporting student growth

Collaboration and Collegiality

  • Communicate regularly and proactively with parents/guardians regarding student progress

  • Maintain open and professional communication with colleagues and school community members

  • Attend and engage meaningfully in faculty meetings, division meetings, and professional development opportunities

  • Actively participate in the life of the school beyond the classroom

 

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred

  • Demonstrated content expertise in applicable science subjects

  • Strong understanding of pedagogy and adolescent intellectual development

  • Proven ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships with students, colleagues, and families

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Commitment to fostering a culturally competent and inclusive classroom environment

  • Collaborative, detail-oriented, and self-motivated team player

  • Proficiency with educational technology and digital tools
