Extended Day Moderator
Reporting to: Director of Early Learning Center and Lower School

Location: Antilles School, 7280 Frenchman Bay, St. Thomas, VI 00802
Schedule: M-F 3:10-5:30pm
Compensation: $24.00/hr
The Extended Day Moderator supports Antilles School’s mission by helping to provide a safe, joyful, and engaging after-school environment for students in the Early Learning Center (ELC) and Lower School. Moderators work closely with the Extended Day Coordinator to supervise students, facilitate play and enrichment activities, and maintain an inclusive space rooted in Antilles’ whole-child approach.
This position is ideal for an energetic and caring individual who enjoys working with young children and values building positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Core Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage with students during Extended Day programming, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment.
- Support the implementation of enrichment, recreational, and collaborative activities designed by the Coordinator.
- Take daily attendance and assist in ensuring students transition safely during pick-up.
- Provide positive behavior guidance aligned with Antilles School’s values of respect, inclusion, and community.
- Assist with snack distribution and maintain the cleanliness and organization of Extended Day spaces.
- Communicate observations or concerns about student behavior or wellbeing to the Extended Day Coordinator in a timely, professional manner.
- Support early dismissal days or extended program schedules, as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all Department of Human Services (DHS) health and safety regulations, including supervision expectations and required documentation.
- Participate in required professional development and training (e.g., CPR/First Aid).
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Extended Day Coordinator or Director of ELC and Lower School.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience working with children in a school, camp, or childcare setting preferred.
- Warm, engaging, and student-centered approach with an understanding of child development.
- Ability to supervise groups of young children with attentiveness, patience, and sound judgment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold school values.
- Must meet all DHS background check and training requirements, including First Aid/CPR certification (may be completed upon hire).
