Middle/Upper School Substitute Teaching Faculty

Antilles School seeks dynamic and talented substitute teachers to support our Middle School and Upper School divisions (Grades 6–12). We are looking for professionals who are confident classroom leaders, adaptable, and committed to fostering an engaging, respectful, and academically rigorous learning environment.
Ideal candidates are self-motivated educators who can effectively implement provided lesson plans, maintain continuity of instruction, and support adolescent learners across a range of subjects and ability levels. An understanding of and commitment to working within a culturally and ethnically diverse community is essential.
Responsibilities
Implement teacher-prepared lesson plans across subject areas including English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Fine Arts, and elective courses.
Maintain an orderly, respectful, and productive classroom environment aligned with division expectations.
Support students’ academic engagement while fostering positive social and emotional development.
Take attendance, monitor student behavior, and communicate relevant information to division leadership.
Provide clear instructions and support students in completing assigned work.
Collaborate with faculty and staff as needed to ensure smooth daily operations.
Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assist in other classrooms or supervisory duties as needed.
Substitute teachers are expected to uphold the school’s commitment to whole-child development while maintaining high academic and behavioral standards appropriate for adolescent learners.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Prior teaching or classroom experience, preferably at the middle or upper school level.
- Strong understanding of adolescent development and effective classroom management strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain structure and accountability in a secondary classroom setting.
- Collaborative professional disposition and positive work ethic.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Cultural competence and commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
- Technological literacy and comfort using digital platforms for attendance, assignments, and communication.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
